Our
Story
GMC was founded in 1984 by Jeffrey Simms, with the purchase of a single-family rental property in Allegany, NY. By 1989, GMC was successfully operating properties located throughout Southwestern New York and Northwestern Pennsylvania.
In 1997, GMC Properties was formed for the purpose of purchasing the William Cesery Portfolio in Jacksonville, FL. The portfolio consisted of ten separate apartment communities totaling 726 units. This transaction was the single largest multi-family real estate purchase in Jacksonville in 1997. With the majority of their holdings now in Florida, GMC moved their base of operations into the Arlington Area of Jacksonville.
Over the last 25 years GMC Properties has expanded to own, operate, and develop apartment communities in the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic, Texas and Utah. GMC's expansion has included all aspects of the Multi-Family business, including acquisition, disposition, asset management, value-add rehabilitation, ground-up development, and 3rd party management.
